As stated earlier, your planets are listed, beginning with the sun. The signs that follow are according to their distance from the sun. The order of planets are: Sun, Moon, (these two are properly called lights rather than planets), Mercury, Venus, Mars (these five are called personal planets), Jupiter and Saturn (these two are the transitional or social planets), Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto (these three are the outer planets, affecting the world in major events, but also making great changes in our personal stories wherever they aspect other planets).
You've seen the planets in your natal chart. They are recorded there as if they were a snapshot taken the moment you were born. Then the planets moved on. All the many charts that could be made for any moment of your life would refer back to that natal chart and would be considered according to aspects made with natal planets or angles (special points of action in your chart, such as ascendant and mid heaven -- the cusps of the first house and the tenth house).
Charts could also be made at any time to see how your personal story had progressed. We'll talk about this in upcoming prompt. We'll also talk about the yearly gift of the solar chart and about the monthly glimpse given by the chart of the lunar return.
Prompt number six, however, concerns transiting planets of this day -- the day you read this entry.
I'll tell you where you can go to locate the planets for this, or any, day you want to explore notes of your story. But first, let's get ready to use the information once you find it.
To get ready for working with the story of the transiting planets in relation to your own story, you need to rearrange your planets. Instead of Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto, you will list them according to the degrees of the signs they are in. Ignore the signs themselves for the moment. You are only concerned here with degrees.
In order to illustrate this, I'll use Thoreau's chart.
Before I list Thoreau's planets, let's take a closer look at degrees:
Sun: 20 Cancer 13' 41" -- This means thirty degrees, thirteen minutes and forty-one seconds of the sign, Cancer. (Minutes are noted by ' and seconds by ".)
Sometimes, with a quick-moving planet such as the sun or moon, you can round the degree to the nearest minute. There are 60 minutes in a degree and 60 seconds in a minute. 41 second is more than half-way to another minute, so we would round the minutes up, making it 14 instead of 13. I round up on the personal planets only, and only for basic storyfinding.
Thoreau's planets:
Sun: 20 Cancer 14
Moon: 4 Cancer 09
Mercury: 1 Cancer
Venus 6: Gemini
Mars 6: Taurus
Jupiter: 1 Sagittarius 19R (R stands for retrograde, see note below)
Saturn: 5 Pisces 27R
Uranus: 12 Sagittarius 22R
Neptune 22 Sagittarius 12R
Pluto: 25 Pisces 16 R
These are the planets. Also, I want to include the Ascendant and Midheaven:
Asc: 18 Aquarius 44

FOR THE SAKE OF TRANSITS, WE REARRANGE THESE PLANETS. Beginning with the lowest degree, I'll list Thoreau's planets and the ascendant (asc) and Mid Haven (MC) once more:
Mercury: 1 Cancer
Jupiter: 1 Sagittarius 19R
Moon: 4 Cancer 09
Saturn: 5 Pisces 27
Mars: 6 Taurus
Venus: 6 Gemini (note: the degree of Venus is 6 minutes later than the degree of Mars)
MC: 7 Sagittarius 24
Uranus: 12 Sagittarius 22R
Asc: 18 Aquarius 44 (Can round this to 19 Aquarius for storyfinding)
Sun: 20 Cancer 14
Chiron can be included here: 21 Pisces 36R

Besides the planets, I included Ascendant, Midheaven, Chiron, and the North node. For now, though, look only at the ten planets. Especially note the degrees.
Make a list of your own planets in this way and then rearrange according to degrees, from the low to the high. This makes it easy to see when there are transiting planets aspecting any of the native planets.
